Privacy Policy

Effective October 17, 2026

1. Who we are

Contendo Inc. (Contendo, we, us) operates contendoinnovation.ca. Contendo Innovation is Contendo's custom software development division. We are based at 4621 Main Street, Belledune, New Brunswick, Canada.

This policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information through this website, our free assessments and our sales and marketing communications. We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply, provincial privacy laws.

2. Information we collect

  • Enquiries and bookings. When you book an assessment, fill in a form or contact us, we collect the details you provide, such as your name, work email, phone number, company, job title and message. Meeting bookings are handled through HubSpot. When you email or call us, we keep a record of the conversation.
  • Assessment information. During a free assessment you may share information about how your business works: your processes, software, spreadsheets and documents. We treat it as confidential and use it only to prepare your assessment and any proposal. Please don't send us personal information about your employees or customers unless we've agreed it's needed.
  • Information collected automatically. When you visit the site, our analytics, advertising and security tools record technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the page or ad that referred you, and an approximate location based on your IP address.
  • Information from other sources. We may record business contact details you share with us at trade shows and events, through referrals, or through professional networks such as LinkedIn.

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:
  • respond to your enquiry, schedule calls and carry out your free assessment;
  • prepare proposals and deliver the software and services we've agreed to provide;
  • send occasional updates if you've agreed to receive them (every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, as Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation requires);
  • measure how our advertising performs, and show our ads to people who have visited this site;
  • understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it;
  • keep the site secure and prevent fraud and misuse; and
  • meet our legal, tax and regulatory obligations.
We only use your information for these purposes, or for a new purpose you've agreed to.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored in your browser. Similar technologies include tags and pixels that tell a service when a page has been viewed. This site uses three kinds:

Essential cookies make the site work and keep it secure:
  • WordPress manages sign-in for site administrators.
  • Wordfence protects the site against attacks and abuse.
Analytics cookies help us understand how the site is used:
  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) measures traffic and how pages are used (_ga, _ga_*). You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
  • HubSpot (HubSpot, Inc.) is our customer relationship management system. Its tracking code records your visits and, if you submit a form or book a meeting, links them to your contact record (hubspotutk, __hstc, __hssc, __hssrc).
Advertising cookies help us measure our ads and reach people who have shown interest in our services:
  • Google Ads (Google LLC) records when you arrive from one of our ads and whether you then book an assessment or contact us, and lets us show our ads to people who have visited this site (_gcl_au and Google's own advertising cookies).
  • LinkedIn Insight Tag (LinkedIn Corporation) measures how our LinkedIn ads perform, lets us show ads on LinkedIn to people who have visited this site, and gives us aggregated, anonymous reports about our visitors' professional characteristics (li_sugr, bcookie, lidc, UserMatchHistory, AnalyticsSyncHistory, li_fat_id). LinkedIn does not tell us who individual visitors are.

5. Advertising and retargeting

We use remarketing (also called retargeting) to show our ads to people who have visited this site. Here is how it works:
  • Third-party vendors, including Google and LinkedIn, use cookies to show our ads on other websites, apps and platforms across the internet, based on your past visits to this site.
  • Google's advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • We use Google Ads conversion tracking to see whether people who click our ads go on to book an assessment or contact us.
  • Where we use Google Analytics advertising features, such as remarketing audiences and demographics and interests reports, Google Analytics works together with Google's advertising cookies. We see aggregated reports and audience sizes, not the identity of individual visitors.
  • We may share the email addresses of existing contacts with Google or LinkedIn in a scrambled (hashed) form, so we can show them relevant ads or avoid showing ads to people who are already customers. Write to us if you don't want your information used this way.
We do not use sensitive information, such as health, financial or other sensitive categories, to build audiences or target ads, and we do not target our advertising at children.

How to opt out. You can turn off personalized ads from Google in Google My Ad Center, manage your LinkedIn advertising preferences, and opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies through the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada's AdChoices program or the Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser. Opting out does not stop ads altogether; it means the ads you see won't be based on your visits to this site.

6. Your consent

This policy explains the analytics and advertising cookies we use, and you can opt out at any time using the choices above. Where the law requires your express consent before analytics or advertising cookies are set, for example for visitors in Quebec, we will ask for it through a cookie notice before those cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time. Essential cookies are always on because the site cannot work securely without them.

7. Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only as described here, and only as far as needed, with service providers that help us run our business: HubSpot (customer records, forms, meeting booking and email); Google (analytics and advertising); LinkedIn (advertising); Microsoft (business email and document storage); and our website hosting provider. We choose providers that commit to protecting personal information and to using it only to provide their services to us.

We may also disclose personal information where the law requires it, or as part of a sale, merger or reorganization of our business, in which case the information would remain protected by the commitments in this policy.

8. Where your information is stored

Some of our service providers store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is outside Canada, your information is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessible to its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities.

9. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described above, or as long as the law requires. Enquiry and assessment records are kept while we're in discussion with you and for a reasonable period afterwards. Invoice records are kept as long as Canadian tax law requires, generally six years. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

10. How we protect it

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections to this website, a website firewall and login protection, and access limited to the people who need it for their work. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, as the law requires.

11. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:
  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and how we use it;
  • correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • stop sending you marketing emails (you can also use the unsubscribe link in any email);
  • stop using your information for remarketing or matched advertising audiences; and
  • delete your information, unless we need to keep it for a legal, tax or contractual reason.
Send your request to info@contendo.ca. We may need to confirm your identity before we act on it, and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

12. Systems we build and host for organizations

When we build or host software for an organization, we may handle information about its employees, contractors, customers or students. We process that information on our client's behalf, under the terms of our agreement with them. If an organization uses one of our systems and you have a question about your information, please contact that organization first. We will help them respond.

13. Children

This website and our services are intended for businesses and working adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our services, our advertising or the law change. We will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date at the top.
